Cornhole Bags

Shopping for Cornhole Bags?

When it comes to finding your first or next set of cornhole bags, the options these days are almost endless!  Where do you begin looking for cornhole bags, what should you look for in a cornhole bag, and where do you find the best cornhole bags or your game?!

Let's start with the basics.

  • Cornhole Bags these days no longer contain actual dried up corn in them like the original cornhole bags, instead they are filled with plastic resin pellets (which come in all shapes and sizes).
  • Cornhole Bags now have two different materials used on each side of the bag providing infinite bag speed options.
  • Cornhole Bags should weight 16 ounces, and measure 6".  There is some slight deviation between bag sizes and weights that are tolerable for all professional cornhole organizations and leagues
  • Cornhole Bags come in a variety of colors, designs, logos, etc and can even be fully customized for you!

With all that being said, as you can see, the options for cornhole bags on the market today to choose from are infinite!

Let's find the right bags for you:

Assessing your needs and your game.

Are you a beginning cornhole player or backyard recreational thrower, or are you just looking for your first set of bags?  If so, one of the best bags on the market to start with is the standard Slide Rite bag choice as it is very affordable, durable, and has a long track record of holding up for a very long time.

Are you a cornhole player that has played for awhile and wanting to move more into competitive cornhole?  This is when the options begin to vary based on conditions you play in, or how you like to throw your bags ,etc.  You really need to assess two things when choosing bags, the speed in which you throw, and the speed of the boards that you play on.  If you prefer to throw bags softer and like to land them short, and running them up to the hole, then you are going to want to find a cornhole bag that has faster / slicker materials allowing the bags to land and slide quickly.  Keeping in mind that all bags have dual sided fabrics, these bags have at least one side of the bag  that is very quick:   Wizards, Mercenary, Samurai, Shapeshifter, Game Changer, AllSlide, AllSlide 2.0, Double Slicks.  Each of those bag types that we sell has at least one side that is very fast, and will easily run up the boards.   Also, the faster materials of those bags will allow your bags to still slide easily up the board when conditions are not as ideal, such as during humid weather, damp conditions, etc.

If you prefer to throw your bags harder, or deeper on the board and landing them close to the hole, where they do not slide as much before going in, then you will want to find some bags that have a tackier slow side on them.  Bags such as Vikings, Wizards, Magma, GameChangers, Slide Rites, Gecko, Mercenary, Warlocks, Game Changer Steady 2.0.  Each of those bags have a slow side material that will allow you to throw bags with a little more speed while keeping them from flying off the boards.

Carpet Bags.  By now, if you have been in the cornhole community for awhile you are familiar with the term carpet bags.  This simply means that one side (typically the slow side) of the bag consists of a carpet like material  This is easily identifiable when looking at cornhole bags, as the carpet material is usually blank, or appears like carpet with no graphics printed on them.  This is due to the nature of carpet material not able to withstand the heat of current print methods.  Carpet is a tackier material, and grabs the board much better than other materials used on bags which allows cornhole throwers to manipulate how the bag reacts when hitting the board.  Throwing roll shots, cut shots, or flop shots are all advanced level type of throws, however without something with a little more "stickiness", it is very difficult to throw those type of shots without it.  Typically carpet bags are preferred by advanced level players who already throw a very flat bag, and are looking for that additional advantage of being able to manipulate the bags just a tad more when the land on the boards.  This is often used to get around or over blocker bags that might be in their way.

Hole Friendliness, this is a term often thrown around the cornhole community referring to how easily, or not easily a bag being thrown will find the hole.  A hole friendly bag is referred to a bag that perhaps only needs to get a quarter of it's corner in to the hole and the entire bag will fall, while an unfriendly bag type might have a sticky side that will hang up on the hole even when 3/4 of the bag appears to be dangling in.

These are all thing to consider when buying your next set of cornhole bags.  Fortunately, we here at Dirty Bags Cornhole sell all bag types for all playability and levels of cornhole players.  We are always happy to answer any questions you might have about which bags would suit your game and conditions the best, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like any recommendations for the best cornhole bags for your game!
